In the railway, we participated in all the phases of the infrastructure life cycle: from planning and design, to construction supervision and quality control.

Our performance in electrified railway projects includes:

  • Railway - Design and supervision of works in all types of railway systems: conventional railway, high speed and tram. Hem intervened in strategic projects with railway accesses to large cities or intermodal stations, construction of high-speed line platforms, maintenance of infrastructure on lines in operation and remodelling of stations to adapt to universal accessibility requirements. We face the complex technical challenges of projects with innovative and sustainable solutions, such as the monitoring of works using BIM methodology and the use of self-developed platforms to carry out inventories and inspection of the condition of existing infrastructure elements.
  • Metro - Our experience has been based on the construction of new lines and stations as well as the remodelling, maintenance and expansion of existing infrastructures. We have specialists in design and construction management in consolidated urban environments, applying BIM and self-developed platforms to optimize actions such as the expansion of platforms or the improvement of accessibility and safety.

Extension of the L-9 of the Barcelona Metro

SOCOTEC leads the technical assistance to the Construction Management in one of the most ambitious projects of urban rail infrastructure in Europe: Line 9 of the Barcelona Metro, with 47.8 km of route, of which 43.7 km are underground.

In collaboration with TPF Getinsa Euroestudios i Tunelconsult, desenvolupem i supervisem cada fase d'aquest gran projecte, aplicant els més alts estàndards tècnics i ambientals. Our participation supplies:

  • Design and editorial of the construction Project
  • Management of the execution of works
  • Control and inspection of installations, stations and evacuation methods
  • Geotechnical studies and geological profile of the tunnel
  • Advanced monitoring with sensors (Tunnel Data) and BIM integration

Technological innovation and sustainability in every construction meter

Thanks to the BIM technology and the Tunel Data sensor system, we obtain real-time information on the behaviour of the land and the infrastructure, guarantee a proactive management of cliffs and better safety during the tunnel boring machine (TBM) excavation, at depths between 35 and 70 metres.

More than 2,900 points of automatic and manual measurement have been installed to monitor the area of influence of the tunnel in real time, ensuring the integrity of buildings, service networks and confronting structures.

In addition, our action includes specific measures of acoustic protection, vibration control and emissions of pollutants, as a responsible management of the water environment and waste, minimising the environmental impact and contributing to the preservation of the local vegetation and biodiversity.

The Site Management in railway infrastructures does not guarantee the technical execution of the projects, but also exerceix a paper clau in the sustainable transformation of the urban environment.
