SOCOTEC is leading the recovery of a vital infrastructure for the connection of the Levant.
- Client: Ministry of the Environment, Infrastructure and Territory
- Location: Alaquàs, Aldaia and Torrent (Valencia)
- Year: 2024-2025
- Execution time: 12 months
The catastrophic DANA of October 2024 left serious consequences on the infrastructures of the Valencian Community. Among them, the CV-36 motorway suffered severe damage that interrupted an essential connection for mobility in the metropolitan area of Valencia.
SOCOTEC, through its subsidiary Intercontrol Levante, has assumed the construction management, health and safety coordination, and quality control in this crucial rehabilitation project.
The devastating impact of the DANA on the CV-36
The CV-36, a fundamental artery in the metropolitan area of Valencia, suffered catastrophic damage after the overflow of the Poyo ravine during the DANA of October 29, 2024. This motorway, with an ADT of 35,000 vehicles per day, connects Valencia with Torrent (the second most populous municipality in the province) and with important roads such as the A-7 and V-30.
The most affected section, between KP 8+000 and 10+000, was completely inoperative after the floods. The damage included the total collapse of the bridge on the Torrent road (PK 8+640) and a partial ruin of the parallel bridge, as well as serious deterioration in pavements, slopes, drains and signage. This situation generated a mobility emergency for thousands of citizens who depended on this infrastructure for their daily commutes

TECHNICAL SOLUTIONS
Rehabilitation of the CV-36 road after the DANA

The project addresses the comprehensive reconstruction of damaged infrastructure with advanced engineering solutions:
- Reconstruction of viaducts: Design and execution of two new bridges over the Poyo ravine to restore the interrupted connection, with foundations reinforced by protective breakwaters to prevent future damage from floods.
- Rehabilitation of pavements: Complete renovation of the pavement in the affected sections (approximately 2 km), guaranteeing the durability and safety of the road infrastructure.
- Drainage improvement: Implementation of optimized longitudinal and transverse drainage systems to manage extraordinary precipitation events, preventing future flooding.
- Comprehensive conditioning of the environment: Cleaning and adaptation of the bed of the Poyo ravine in the area of influence of the bridges, including landscape integration and environmental protection measures
