SOCOTEC leads the technical management of the hydraulic infrastructure that will transform agriculture in the region
The project to expand and modernise the irrigation system of the Conca de Tremp represents one of the most strategic actions in hydraulic infrastructure in Catalonia. With an area of approximately 4,500 hectares distributed between the left and right banks of the Noguera Pallaresa river, this initiative will transform water management in the Lleida municipalities of Tremp and Talarn, optimising water resources and improving the efficiency of agricultural holdings in the area. SOCOTEC, in a joint venture with Gloman, has assumed the construction management of this key infrastructure, guaranteeing the technical quality, compliance with deadlines and sustainability of the project.

SOCOTEC's main services in the construction management project
SOCOTEC has deployed a multidisciplinary technical team to ensure the success of the irrigation modernization. The services provided include the complete management of the installation works of the main transport pipelines, with diameters of up to 2,000 mm, which cross areas of high technical complexity such as the crossing of the Noguera Pallaresa river and the passage under the bridge of the C-1412b road.
The SOCOTEC team, made up of Roberto Cavaglia, Marta Subirana, Blanca Bevià and Lluc Ferré, coordinates all the technical aspects of the execution, from the daily supervision of the works to the validation of the construction procedures and the control of the auxiliary means. This work ensures that each phase of the project complies with the required quality standards and with the current regulations on hydraulic infrastructures.

EXECUTION
Burying of main pipes
Currently, the works are focused on burying 2.5 kilometers of the main pipeline that will transport water from the Talarn dam to the cultivation areas. This action includes two main batches of work that are progressing simultaneously:
- Lot 1 includes the installation of a 2,000 mm diameter pipeline between kilometre points 1+520 and 2+883, including unique works such as the crossing of the Noguera Pallaresa river and the construction of the diversion hut to the irrigation areas on both banks.
- Lot 2 focuses on the diversion to the left bank, with a 1,600 mm diameter pipeline that runs between kilometre points 2+883 and 3+424. Highlights include the passage over
Despite the weather adversities that have affected the execution during the winter and spring, the schedule of works has been adjusted and both lots are expected to be completed before the end of 2026.

Technical management specialized in hydraulic infrastructures
The construction management of hydraulic infrastructures requires in-depth technical knowledge and exceptional coordination skills. SOCOTEC has demonstrated its expertise in this field by managing highly complex projects involving unique works, such as river crossings, interactions with road infrastructures and bypass systems for large agricultural areas.
In the case of the irrigation of the Conca de Tremp, the SOCOTEC team has implemented rigorous technical supervision procedures, working closely with the construction companies, the health and safety coordinators, and the environmental assistance and quality control teams. This comprehensive coordination ensures that each intervention is carried out in accordance with the requirements of the project and contributes to the final objective: to bring water efficiently and sustainably to the farms of the region.
In addition, SOCOTEC participates in the drafting of future projects within the same area, including technical assistance for the updating of the construction project of the primary network on the left bank, with an expected delivery date between October and November 2026.
SOCOTEC's experience in infrastructure construction management
SOCOTEC has a long history in the technical management of hydraulic, transport and urban services infrastructures. Our specialized teams combine knowledge in civil engineering, project management and environmental sustainability to offer comprehensive solutions that guarantee the success of the most complex works.
In projects such as the irrigation of the Conca de Tremp, we apply advanced methodologies of quality control, multidisciplinary coordination and real-time monitoring that allow us to anticipate risks, optimize resources and meet established deadlines.
