SOCOTEC guarantees technical assistance for the control of the works and contributes to improving the quality of life of citizens with this strategic action by the Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility.
The Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility has tendered the works for the replacement of acoustic barriers on the A-1 motorway, between kilometer points 66.400 and 68.500, as it passes through the municipality of Lozoyuela, in the Community of Madrid.
This project, with a budget of 4.5 million euros financed by European NextGenerationEU funds, relies on technical assistance for the control of the works provided by the SOCOTEC team.

Technical Details
Project Objectives
The main objective of the action is the reduction of noise pollution and the minimization of the highway's impact on the urban environment.
This results in an increase in the quality of life for citizens, enabling more pleasant and habitable surroundings.
The works involve the removal of the current barriers and their foundations to install new aluminum barriers with renewed foundations and a new, independent containment system. At a technical level, key features include:
The barriers incorporate rock wool in their interior to increase insulation.
They are prepared to withstand the wear and tear of winter weather, such as salt.
Anti-graffiti treatments and signaling will be applied to the methacrylate sections to prevent bird mortality due to collision.

"The execution of the works presents significant technical challenges, such as interference with fiber optics and electrical conduits in the subsoil, and the diversity of the terrain. SOCOTEC's experience in linear infrastructure is essential for managing these particularities and applying the necessary anchoring methods."
SOCOTEC's Experience in Road Infrastructure
SOCOTEC contributes its extensive track record in construction management and technical assistance for linear infrastructure projects such as roads and motorways. This experience includes relevant projects such as the Construction Management for the conditioning of the third lane on the C-16 (Terrassa direction, Barcelona) or the Parc Sagunt II Structural Road (Valencia), which had the technical backing of SOCOTEC Intercontrol.
With this solid foundation, SOCOTEC's involvement guarantees the correct execution and control of this important action, ensuring that the project improves the urban integration and the acoustic environment of the A-1 as it passes through Lozoyuela.
