SOCOTEC drives the transition toward zero-emission mobility by launching a comprehensive plan to electrify 50% of its operational fleet by 2028. This measure, supported by digital tools and technical training, will reduce the firm’s overall carbon footprint by 25%.

With this milestone, the company internally applies the principles of its GREEN TRUST by SOCOTEC solutions, demonstrating its commitment to a more sustainable, low-carbon future through direct action.

As part of its commitment to sustainable development and climate neutrality, SOCOTEC is taking a decisive step toward sustainable mobility. The company has launched a plan to progressively electrify its operational fleet—comprising more than 260 vehicles—targeting a 25% reduction in its global carbon footprint by 2028 and achieving 50% 100% electric vehicles within that same timeframe.

This progress not only transforms its internal operations, but also reinforces the value proposition of GREEN TRUST by SOCOTEC solutions, supporting clients and infrastructure managers through their own ecological transition challenges.

Strategy toward carbon neutrality

SOCOTEC's transport fleet represents one of the primary vectors impacting the company's direct emissions. To ensure this transition maintains maximum efficiency and service continuity, the firm has designed a progressive roadmap built on digitalization and technical expertise:

  • Direct impact: The progressive electrification of corporate vehicles will reduce up to 27% of emissions stemming from corporate transportation.

  • Smart digital management: Utilizing telemetry platforms like Webfleet, SOCOTEC analyzes the mobility profiles and routes of its teams, ensuring an agile transition tailored to the operational demands of each service.

  • Infrastructure and training: The installation of charging points at corporate headquarters is paired with technical awareness sessions, internal best-practice guides, and collaboration with electric mobility experts and leading manufacturers such as Toyota.

«The technical rigor and reliability we deliver to our clients in their sustainability projects must be reflected in our own daily operations. Moving toward a zero-emission fleet proves our real commitment to the environment and strengthens our capability to advise across the entire asset lifecycle with first-hand experience»

Leading by example in decarbonization

To roll out this new strategy and involve the entire team, SOCOTEC organized an awareness session on electrified vehicles at the Montcada i Reixac facility, detailing the company's operational roadmap.

Key charging and efficiency insights with Ferran Menescal

One of the most valued segments for attendees was the presentation by Ferran Menescal, an electric mobility expert, who shared strategic recommendations to adapt electric vehicle usage to daily job-site requirements and technical travel:

  • The 20%–80% rule: Menescal delved into battery performance, highlighting that the optimal charging range sits between 20% and 80%. As he explained, charging speed decreases noticeably beyond 80%, making brief intermediate stops the best strategy during work trips rather than extending wait times.

  • Smart home charging: He also addressed residential charging using dynamic power control systems, offering clear guidelines to maximize energy efficiency without disrupting operational routines or overloading technicians' home installations.

Unveiling the new Toyota corporate fleet

The corporate team from Toyota presented the technical specifications of the new passenger cars and vans incorporated under a corporate renting model, emphasizing their operational flexibility, comprehensive insurance coverage, and guaranteed assistance across their official dealer network in Spain.

Decarbonizing daily operations reflects the fundamental core of our strategy: leading by example and providing technical support grounded in the company's own experience.
