What is a pre-construction audit?
A pre-construction audit is a comprehensive technical and economic inventory carried out prior to any major demolition or rehabilitation work, which identifies and quantifies:
- Reusable products and materials: doors, windows, metal structures, MEP equipment, flooring, cladding...
- Recyclable materials: aggregates, metals, wood, glass, plastics
- Hazardous waste: asbestos, lead, PCBs, materials with pollutants...

Required for Good levels and above in rehabilitations. Documents inventory of materials and selective deconstruction plan, facilitating waste auditing for BREEAM/LEED certification.

New credit within the Materials & Resources category that assesses the completion of a pre-intervention inventory of materials present in the building, identifying potential for reuse and recycling before the start of works.
