SOCOTEC presents its 2028 Sustainability Plan at the European Sustainable Development Week

Tue 30/09/2025 - 09:29

The strategic plan that will define SOCOTEC's future until 2028 was the central focus of the European Sustainable Development Week

During the second edition of its hybrid event, SOCOTEC kicked off the European Sustainable Development Week. Within this framework, Guillem Baraut (CEO) and Martí Riera (Sustainability Director) presented a key project for the company's future.

The event began with a powerful setting of the context: given the urgency of climate change and the responsibility of the construction sector —which accounts for 40% of global emissions—, SOCOTEC has defined a roadmap to lead the transition toward a more sustainable model.

"Sustainability is no longer just an obligation; it's an opportunity to lead change in our sector. With this plan, SOCOTEC is not only aligning with future regulations but also reaffirming its commitment to being an active agent in the transition toward a more sustainable future. Our team's knowledge is our greatest tool to achieve this."

Reducing Impact, Business, and Circularity: Three Pillars of Action

SOCOTEC's strategy for the coming years is based on three main pillars: reducing impact, sustainable business, and circular culture. The company has set ambitious and measurable goals that demonstrate its firm commitment:

  • Reduce CO2 emissions by 30%, doubling the previous target.

  • Increase sustainable business volume by 50%, boosting services under the Green Trust seal.

  • Decarbonize the vehicle fleet and offices through electrification and the installation of solar panels.

  • Foster social inclusion, facilitating job placement for vulnerable groups.

  • Promote circularity, recycling and reusing materials from offices and electronic equipment.

A Day of Knowledge and Collaboration

To reinforce the concepts presented, all teams participated in the "SOCOTEC Green Trust" game. This activity, held in a hybrid format, challenged participants to classify the company's services according to sustainability criteria. The competition was very close and demonstrated the great knowledge and commitment of all teams to the new challenges.

The event concluded with a coffee break—an ideal moment to discuss the day's activities—but the European Sustainable Development Week does not stop here. The agenda continues with more outreach content from our experts.

We invite you to explore our website and discover a new series of technical articles focused on our Green Trust services. This content delves into essential topics such as adaptation to climate change, renewable energy, and sustainability consulting.
