SOCOTEC Intercontrol, through its wastewater analysis laboratory, participates as a strategic partner in the MORESAN project.
This initiative, funded by the Regional Ministry of Innovation, Industry, Commerce and Tourism (Conselleria), aims to detect, identify, and quantify emerging contaminants and antibiotic-resistant genes in the sewage network of the city of Valencia.
The project is committed to developing predictive models and applying lessons learned during the COVID-19 pandemic to optimize sampling and analysis systems, given the current lack of standardized protocols. With its vast experience in water analysis, SOCOTEC Intercontrol provides the technical knowledge and laboratory capabilities necessary to guarantee the reliability of the data obtained in the research.
A Multidisciplinary Initiative for Environmental Health
MORESAN is the result of a collaboration between various public and private sector entities, including the Plastic Technology Institute (AIMPLAS), the Water and Environmental Engineering Institute of the UPV, and the Calagua group from the Universitat de València, as well as the company Seqplexing. The initiative is also supported by the Valencia City Council (Ayuntamiento de València) and the Wastewater Treatment Authority (Epsar).
