Project summary

A feasibility study to define the work planned to complete the urban enhancement project on a stretch of Avinguda Roma between Carrer de Viladomat and Carrer de Entença in Barcelona.

Project details

Approximately 435 m long and spanning 50 m wide from one side of the street to the other, this project covered a section with a surface area of around 22,000 m2.

Our Actions

 

  • Preserve the existing plane trees on the pavements, interspersed with a second line of newly planted palm trees,
  • In the Rambla, planters with a triangular section, marking two alignments,
  • To give continuity to the existing cycle lane on the carriageway, attached to both sides of the Rambla Central.

  • 10.50 m wide carriageway distributed in a parking and loading and unloading lane, 2 traffic lanes and a cycle lane, based on hot bituminous mix. 7 m wide pavement made of 20x20x4 cm panot (hydraulic tiles) and 14.80 m wide central boulevard, with 60x40x6 cm granite pieces on a concrete base. Granite stone kerb 20x25x8 cm.

  • The proposed development modifies the loads borne by the existing tunnels under the avenue by distributing traffic differently in the road section. The hypothesis of a tunnel of variable span, 15-40 cm deep, is being studied,
  • In the development of the Feasibility Study, a ground plan axis will be calculated for the Avenida de Roma, which will be used for the topographical definition of all types of elements,
  • Drainage actions such as cancellation of existing scuppers and location of new ones in accordance with the new geometry of the street; change of manhole covers and scupper gratings and drainage of flower boxes,
  • A drip irrigation network is planned and designed for the trees and sprinklers for the planters,
  • Consultation with the Lighting Operational Unit of the Barcelona City Council on the distribution of the lighting points and the calculations made,
  • Installation of street furniture,
  • This section makes it necessary to relocate an existing Adif ventilation grille that also functions as an emergency exit; it is proposed to place a Barcelona-type glass edicule for the exit.
